I'll remember this time

I love taking shots of him sleeping, I know they are kind of boring but they of have a special meaning for me.

I have a lot of memories of rocking him to sleep when he was a baby. Of bottle feeding him, burping him and then watching as his eyes slowly close, his breathing evening out. When I look back at the photos of him sleeping, all of it comes right back to me. The weight of him in my arms, those long eyelashes fluttering close and that baby smell.

Now a days, I often lay next to him as he falls a sleep. He talks to me as he drifts off. He’ll ask for juice, ask me to turn on the TV (he likes the background noise.) he’ll tell me about his toys and his cat. Some times he’ll just go quiet, other times he’ll talk in his sleep until I stop answering him back. I’ll watch him for a while, just to make sure he’s out. His long eyelashes closed, his face that reminds me more and more of his father’s with each passing day. My little nephew, the center of my world.

I know one day I’ll look back at this photo and remember this time in his life. I’ll remember the talking, the sound of his breathing, his eyelashes as they slowly close.
